space, emptiness and silence
Original essayMore than words, silence speaks harder.
More than being full, emptiness makes things clear.
More than always being occupied, space makes things happen.
Being present everywhere can make you empty from inside. People need space to fill themselves up and come back with a better understanding of who they are.
Charles Bukowski had a similar saying: "People empty me, I have to get away to refill."
The only way you are going to discover yourself is giving yourself space, and it is good to note that space is not something you can force. You can't lock yourself in a room and expect to come back as a more polished person. Space also means giving time for things to happen.
One of the best feelings is being content, being full — and opposite to it is emptiness. But to feel empty is to make space for newer things. If you want to grow, you must empty your cup when it is needed. Emptiness can allow us to let go of old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve us, making space for new and better things to come into our lives.
Blaise Pascal says: "All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone."
We as a generation are so frightened to be in silence. Silence triggers and brings back all the underlying emotions and thoughts. Get comfortable with silence. If you want to be human, be creative — you must consume and put yourself into silence to let the magic happen.
One thing you will realize after spending time with yourself: you will feel deeper and have a more clear mind.
